JD and Bobby
The story begins with happiness and laughter, like all miserably sad stories do..
There was an apartment in Depot Road, where 5 people lived happily. There were owners (husband and wife) and 3 tenants, Alga, Melissa, and Mirna. One fine day, the owners, Yamuna and her husband (let's just call him Coward since he liked to hide behind his wife's back), took 2 cute little puppies home. Although they were only 1 month old when Yamuna took them away from their mom, but she seemed to love them like they are her precious little pets. So, really, the story started off very happy.
The twist of the story, however, was not very far off from the start. After only 4 days of love, Yamuna and her husband have decided that they wanted to give the puppies tough love. They started to ignore, yell, kick, hit, and punish the puppies when they did something wrong. They allowed the puppies to get out of their cage only when they wanted to show the puppies off to their friends. The three tenants wanted to tell them that the puppies did not even work at circus, but they couldn't. The puppies weren't theirs. They felt very helpless every time they heard the dogs crying out of pain, but there was nothing they could do for the puppies weren't theirs. So, they closed the doors to their rooms, hoping the puppies wouldn't suffer so much.
One day, Yamuna told Mirna, who was madly in love with JD and Bobby, not to play with JD. Apparently, JD was put inside a box not much bigger than himself as a punishment because he couldn't pee at the correct spot. Mirna knew it was ridiculous. How in the world don't they know that puppies have a lot of difficulty to control their bladders, just like babies do? But, she also knew she didn't have any right to say anything because JD and Bobby weren't hers. Feeling helpless, she just nodded.
After the owners had left, Mirna went to check on the puppies. She saw how sad JD and Bobby was. They tried to play with each other, but they couldn't, because JD was inside the box while Bobby was outside. So, they did what babies do when they feel helpless - they cried. She couldn't help it. She took JD out, gave him water (the owners didn't even give him water in the box!) and played with both of them. Unfortunately, she didn't realise Coward had come back and saw her doing this. By the time she realised, he was watching her playing with the puppies. She thought if he didn't come over to scold her, there surely was nothing wrong, right? WRONG! By the time the puppies went to sleep, Mirna went to her room and she saw a message from Yamuna :
Mirana, don't give the puppies anymore treats until I come home
She didn't reply because she thought it was a normal message. But, 5 minutes later she received a call from Yamuna :
Hey, Mirana. Don't give anymore treats to the puppies ok! I told you just now to leave JD alone.
I know. But he looked so sad, and Bobby wanted to play with him too.
Yes, I know. But we're trying to train him here. I know it's easy for you because you just want to play with the puppies. But it is very hard for us who want to train them. I hope you understand. My husband was very furious when he saw you playing with JD just now.
I understand. I'm sorry.
Good.
But Mirna didn't understand and she wasn't sorry. She wanted to say that JD had been in the box for 1 whole hour, which means 7 hours for dogs. That puppies that age still couldn't control their bladders. She wanted to tell Yamuna that dog's memories were generally of very short span, so JD wouldn't even know what mistake he had made. That her name was Mirna, not Mirana. And she wanted to ask her why her husband was being such a coward for hiding behind his wife's back instead of confronting her straight when he saw her. But most of all, she wanted to ask Yamuna whether she would punish her own baby if the baby couldn't pee in the toilet by the time she reached 7 months old.
But she knew it wasn't her place. So she kept quiet.
That night, Yamuna (as usual, Coward was being cowardly) came into Mirna's room and implied that she didn't want Mirna to interfere with the way they were training the puppies. So, Alga and Melissa advised Mirna not to play with the puppies anymore. Brokenhearted, Mirna realised that was probably the most sensible thing to do. And so she did. Anyway she couldn't bear to play with only one puppy while the other one was trapped in a little box.
Life went on as usual. They went to work, watched TV series, surfed the net, read books, etc etc. But something had changed. After that incident, there were no more polite conversations between the tenants and apartment's owners. There was no smile, no exchanged looks, no nothing. JD and Bobby had shown the true color of the owners, and it was not pretty.
Mirna loathed Coward and Yamuna so much that she couldn't wait to tell them off. She kept playing this conversation in her mind :
Y : Mirana, I don't see you play with JD and Bobby anymore. What's wrong?
M : (look at her with disgust) I have no right to play with them because I can't even protect them from people like you. (leave the scene)
or this :
Y : Mirana, can you help me bring the dogs for walk? The dogs are too strong for me to handle alone.
M : (look with disgust) I don't want to be included in your torture of dogs. (leave the scene)
But of course, the Bitch didn't. It was either she was too scared, or she simply didn't care. It didn't matter though. She could feel the hatred all the tenants felt towards her, and it was good enough.
One fine day, Mirna checked on SPCA website that people were able to report animal abuse if they saw one. So, with the help from Alga and Melissa, she took pictures of the state of the cage where the puppies live in. She took picture of the cane the owner used to hit the puppies. If it was possible, she wanted to take picture of the plastic rope that owner had been using to bring the puppies for a walk. But she relised it was useless, because it was a very common object, and hence Bitch and the Son of a Bitch (SB) might be able to deny the accusation.
And she reported it. She knew she would be in trouble if SPCA accidentaly disclosed her identity as the witness, but she didn't care. She couldn't ignore the squeeking and crying any longer. So the inspector came unannounced one day and tried to talk to the owners about it. SB just sat there, smiling, while the Bitch tried to explain why she had done such a thing. On the second visit, the inspector realised that JD and Bobby were already emotionally scarred by the owner's cruelty. Hence, JD and Bobby were taken by SPCA, and the owners were fined $2,000 by AVA. The owner suspected Mirna to be the one who had complained, but they were in need of money, so they couldn't tell her to leave just yet! :D
Mirna wanted to tell them :
SUCK IT UP YOU EVIL BITCH AND SON OF A BITCH!
or
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! IN YOUR FACE!
but she just smiled and laughed and partied.
One month later, Mirna received a call from SPCA telling her that JD and Bobby had been adopted by a very loving family who owned a big house with garden, so that JD and Bobby could run around.
See how wonderful life is for good people? :D
P.S. it IS true that all dogs go to heaven!:D
